A designated shame seat, a kiddie chair, a broken lawn chair, a literal toilet, is reserved for last year's loser at every league event until they escape last place. The chair never changes; the occupant sometimes does. Some leagues make the loser transport the chair themselves.
The long haul: this is not a one-afternoon sentence. With a time commitment of full year, the punishment keeps paying out (for everyone else) long after the season ends. Long sentences need a written end date and a league-appointed enforcer who checks compliance.
